Investors Group renews partnership with Golf Fore the Cure for 2012

Oakville, Ont. (Golf Canada) - Golf Canada is pleased to announce that Investors Group has signed on as a Pink Partner of Golf Fore the Cure (GFTC), presented by Subaru, for a fifth consecutive year in 2012.
GFTC is a fundraising and awareness program created by Golf Canada to engage women in the game of golf with non-intimidating, golf-related activities that help raise funds for breast cancer research and support programs.
“Investors Group is proud to have been Golf Fore The Cure’s Pink Partner since 2008,” said Claudia Huruian, a Marketing Specialist in Area Marketing with Investors Group. “Our involvement will consist of a draw at every Golf Fore the Cure registered event for a sports duffle bag. Each participant’s name will also go into a Grand Prize draw for a trip for two to New York City. For every ballot received, Investors Group will provide a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society and Québec Breast Cancer Foundation.”
“Golf Canada is delighted that Investors Group is continuing their commitment as a Pink Partner of Golf Fore the Cure in 2012,” said Jeff Thompson, Golf Canada’s Chief Sport Development Officer. “Investors Group will continue to play an integral part in our efforts towards funding breast cancer research and support programs by raising awareness about the disease through a fun, community-based initiative that has exposed 76,000 women to the game of golf and raised over $3.8 million since its inception in 2004.”
In 2011, Investors Group donated $5,000 to the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) and $1,000 to the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation (QBCF). Through its ballot initiative, Investors Group held its Jet Away contest at each GFTC event, providing two lucky GFTC participants with an opportunity to win a Caribbean Cruise. For each ballot submitted, Investors Group donated 50 cents towards the fight against breast cancer and a total of $3,100 in additional donations was collected.
Last year, a total of 218 sites across Canada helped lead the fight against breast cancer by supporting the CCS and the QBCF. Over 16,000 participants raised over $700,000 and promoted breast cancer awareness nationwide, as the GFTC brand was endorsed by several notable ambassadors, including Céline Dion, Alena Sharp, Stephanie Sherlock, and Trish Stratus.
