Golf Canada is pleased to announce that The Summit Golf and Country Club, a 6,865-yard Stanley Thompson design in Richmond Hill, Ont., has been named as the host club for Golf Canada’s 2012 Golf Fore the Cure (GFTC) National Event on September 24th.

The Golf Fore the Cure National Event, which recognizes all those that have contributed to a future without breast cancer through the GFTC initiative, is a culmination of the efforts of female golfers from across the country. Individuals, friends and corporate teams will come together to enjoy a great day of golf, food and camaraderie to celebrate the success of the GFTC’s year-long campaign.

According to The Summit G&CC General Manager Richard Creally, the club is excited to host this year’s National Event, and looks forward to welcoming participants to the facility during its’ centennial celebration.

“The Summit wanted to ensure that it’s held in high regard in the community and we want to give back the community as well,” said Creally. “A large percentage of our membership is made up of female golfers, so we felt it was only fitting to host the event this year. We think the (GFTC National) event will be a great way to end our centennial on a strong note.”

Creally also added that The Summit has re-invested $1.5 million dollars over the last 12 months on course modifications, noting that the club is “confident the day will be an enjoyable event.”

The Golf Fore the Cure National Event is still accepting applications for both corporate and individual team participants.
