Participate in an Event
Golf Canada and the Canadian Cancer Society would be thrilled if you played in a Golf Fore the Cure event to help sharpen your golf skills and raise money for breast cancer research. With your help we can reach the goal of having a world where no women fears breast cancer and by playing in a Golf Fore the Cure event you can help make this vision a reality.
4 Easy Steps to Participate in a Golf Fore the Cure Event:
Step 1 - Find an event near you
There are many events being held throughout the country. To find the one closest to you please visit our Event Locations page. These events are being run by volunteers across the country that want to help make a difference. Can't find an event near you? Why not create your own Golf Fore the Cure event. It is not a lot of extra work to run an event and Golf Canada will help you out every step of the way.
Already know which event you want to sign up for? Then skip step 1 and go ahead to step 2 to register for the event of your choice.
Contact email@example.com if you are looking for a specific event and we can help you!
Step 2 - Register to participate in an event
Once you have found an event that you would like to participate in, your next step is to register. There are two ways you can register for the event of your choice:
Visit our Participant Registration page and complete the online form that will automatically be submitted to the Event Coordinator.
Sign up now!
2) Contact the Event Coordinator
A few select events may choose to not offer online registration. If the event you are trying to register for is not listed as an option on the Participant Registration page, please visit our Event Locations page to view the email address of the Event Coordinator of your event of choice to inquire directly with them.
Step 3 - Fundraise Online
Every event is different in how they will raise money for their event, for details specific to the event you will be participating in contact your Event Coordinator. Most events will encourage their participants to raise funds in the folowing two ways:
1) Online pledging program
Golf Canada offers an online pledging service that participants from any Golf Fore the Cure event can register to use. From this site you can email all your friends/contacts from all over the world and ask for their support. You can have all of your fundraising done in a matter of minutes!! This can be found in the participant login after registering for the event of your choice.
For all pledges over $10 made online, a tax receipt will be issued within three business days via email from the Canadian Cancer Society. All money you raise will stay in the province where your event is being held.
NOTE: At this time, the online pledging system is only available for donations being made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Donations to the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation must be made offline using the pledge form method described below.
2) Pledge forms
Pledge forms can be received from the event coordinator organizing the event you will be attending or by downloading them yourself on the Participants Page. This is another way that you can help to raise funds for the fight against breast cancer.
For all pledges over $25 made by cheque, cash or credit card, a tax receipt will be issued upon receipt from the Canadian Cancer Society.
All funds raised at the events across the country will be supporting the Canadian Cancer Society and Quebec Breast cancer Foundation (in Quebec) - funding breast cancer research as well as support and information programs in each province.
As a special bonus – the Top Two Fundraising events participating in Golf Fore The Cure will win an all expense paid trip to the National Event.
Step 4 - Tell your friends
Golf Fore the Cure is all about encouraging women to take part in the game of golf in a fun, non-intimidating setting. Once you've signed up, encourage three other colleagues, or friends to play in the event with you! Persuade your non-golfer female friends and family to join you and have a fun day on the golf course. There is no better opportunity for someone to learn the game.
